Welcome to the Rotherham SEND resource kit
This resource aims to provide easy access to consistent, high quality information, practical ideas and resources for school staff in Rotherham who are supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
It covers the following areas:
- Descriptions of the different types of needs which you may come across – and how to spot them in a school setting
- Strategies for meeting these needs and developing individual plans
- Ideas for how to work successfully in partnership with parents and children / young people
- Expectations of schools as part of the graduated response
It is part of Rotherham’s graduated response to special educational need and disability.
The video above explains the graduated response and the vital role that staff from across different agencies play in delivering this.
The resource has been developed by a multi-agency group, including CAMHS, educational psychology, children’s therapy teams, specialist teaching teams, school nurses, parent and SENDCO representatives. We hope you find it useful.
It will be periodically updated to keep information current and to include good practice examples from across the schools of Rotherham.
We would welcome feedback on this site so we can continue to develop and improve it.
Along with the information provided on this site, which has been developed specifically for Rotherham, the NASEN and Education Endowment Foundation websites offers a wealth of helpful and informative FREE resources from a national perspective:
